Yukari Onsen is located only 20 minutes away from Shinjuku on the Keio Line. Finally, a hot spring retreat that you can hit on a school night.
Combining 12 types of hot spring baths, Yukari Onsen houses both the indoor and outdoor variety in a verdant setting, right next to the historic Jindaiji Temple.
Each hot spring has a specific health benefit for the bather. For example, one of the men's baths includes a black charcoal hot spring said to preserve youth, while the colorful crystal quartz hot spring available to women bathers is said to support respiratory health. There are also herbal-infused baths on both the women's and men's sides, which promote "invigoration."
All of the baths have the effect of wearing you out. Expect to nap on the short bus back into the city.
To visit: Take the Keio Line to Chofu Station. A free shuttle bus is provided by Yukari Onsen every 30 minutes (on the hour and half past the hour) from Chofu Station's north exit.
