Hotel Okura
The incredibly-retro South Wing lobby may be the only spot in Tokyo that has a distinctly 1960s' atmosphere. And that shade of tea green may no longer be available for commercial purposes.

Despite its mid-20th century design, Hotel Okura still holds up under a new era of increased competition. In fashion terms, this hotel is so old, it’s practically new.

Whether staying in the hotel or visiting for tea, take some time to sit in the expansive South Wing lobby -- a time warp to a period when Japan was on the precipice of becoming the world’s second biggest economy and architects were keen to make their mark.

In a city that is routinely ripped down every twenty years to make way for new buildings, Hotel Okura is a pleasant reminder that classic design can exist in Tokyo.
