Shin-Marunouchi Building
The Marunouchi and Shin-Marunouchi buildings tower over the Tokyo station area. Shin-Maru is like the younger brother who has stolen all of the older brother's glory.

The Shin-Marunouchi Building opened in 2007 next to the original Marunouchi Building, one of Tokyo's first massive entertainment and shopping complexes. Yes, you have the right to be skeptical about these giant building complexes, which seem to pop up every single year. But the developers did a great job with Shin-Maru, and even now, despite the hype having died, the complex is still worth a visit.

The seventh floor Marunouchi House is host to a great selection of relatively affordable eateries and a killer open terrace that circles the entire floor. Visitors can freely bring drinks out onto the terrace for a breezy night view.

Don't miss the Spanish-Italian fusion at Rigoletto or the very cushion-y Henry Good Seven café. And wiener-lovers should know that Franz Club is one of the city's most unabashedly German eateries.
