Grab a rubdown at the Shangri-La and you'll be surrounded by Tibetan history.
The Shangri-La chain has based its hotels on the namesake mystical valley in Tibet as described in James Hilton's 1933 novel Lost Horizon, and its spa, CHI, emphasizes the harmonious oriental theme.
The massage rooms here are all inclusive, so you'll have a private shower, bathtub and sauna room all to yourself, surrounded by Tibetan artefacts, writings and furniture that really sets the mood.
To really get refreshed, try the 1 hour 20 minute Samurai treatment (¥28,000), not only will you get to wear a yukata and feel like a recovering (corporate) warrior, but after breathing in your chosen oil, expect an initial dry massage, some arm-bending toughness and then some soothing oils.
It finishes with a head massage and an acupressure facial scrub to thoroughly thaw you out ready for that next battle with work.
With a view over the platforms of Tokyo station, you'll feel like living in one tranquil world and viewing the complete opposite.
The Samurai treatment is available through September 15, 2012. The Romantic Paradise is available February 1 - 29, 2012.
