The spacious Mita Arts Gallery lets you browse ukiyo-e without being cramped like other galleries in the area.
Mita Arts Gallery has been dealing in ukiyo-e woodblock prints since the early 1960s and has several hundred examples in stock, ranging from more affordable works up to museum-standard pieces.
Founder David Caplan developed a passion for the art form after arriving in the years immediately after the war and has passed that on to his son, Ken. The family has a membership at the Japan Ukiyo-e Society and really know their Hokusai from their Hiroshige.
Visitors are encouraged to browse the works on display in the gallery or purchase prints on-line. Mita Arts Gallery also produces free catalogues of its stock three times a year.
