Tokyo Marathon live streaming -- weather permitting

A group of tech-savvy Tokyoites will broadcast the Tokyo Marathon on the web with eight iPhones and the power of Twitter
Tokyo Marathon live streamingThe most competitive runners of the 2009 Tokyo Marathon did not strap iPhones to their heads.

Tokyo Marathon 2010 is taking place on Sunday, February 28, and organizers expect 32,000 runners.

One of those runners will be Joseph Tame, a British resident of Tokyo who plans to use eight iPhones, a Nexus One and two MacBooks to live stream the race on the Internet. Viewers from around the world will be able to send messages to Tame mid-run through his Twitter account, which will be converted to audio in his ear via the application Tweettalk.

The only possible barriers to the project are Tame's lack of running stamina and the high possibility of rain. The live stream team may have to call everything off under the threat of a substantial downpour.

More can be learned about the Tokyo Marathon live streaming project at Tame's special page for the event.
