The Sartorialist snaps Japan for the first time

This New Yorker has skillfully used new media to launch a professional career as a fashion photographer. Over the next week he will point his lens at the Tokyo streets

Street fashion photographer Scott Schuman has parlayed his popular blog The Sartorialist into a professional career as a globe-trotting cameraman. Although he often captures Japanese dandies at European fashion weeks, Schuman had ironically never set foot in the mecca for fashion street photography -- Tokyo. That is, until now.

Thanks to select shop United Arrows, The Sartorialist has hit Tokyo proper and is already taking shots of Japanese youth. Although Tokyo does not have the classic cobblestone streets that Schuman usually likes to use for his backgrounds, he has already managed to frame his subjects and the city in a relatively attractive way, which is not always easy in Harajuku.

For the next week, Schuman will be doing undisclosed work for United Arrows and likely hopping around the streets snapping fashionistas. Check in on his blog daily to get a sense of the latest Japanese street fashion looks.
