Okay, we're going to cheat a little bit here.
Because there are so many tooth-destroying selections at Rue Favart in Ebisu, and because the choices change with the seasons, we're picking whatever the popular cafe has got on display today as the best dessert in Tokyo.
Walk in and you'll find dozens of types of individual cakes and tarts.
Alongside dependable favorites such as Roquefort cheesecake and pumpkin pudding, the innovative pastry chefs -- they bake behind a display case -- are constantly coming up with seasonal creations, such as tiramisu infused with berries, or a fig tart filled with lemon cream.
In addition, the soft-serve ice cream is tangy in a Greek-yogurt kind of way.
"The ice cream is not to be missed," says NHK World reporter Ai Uchida.
