Ladurée invented the now-standard double-decker creme-filled macaroon in 1930 and our waistlines have never been the same.
Ladurée -- the Parisian tearoom founded in 1862 -- now has an outpost in the Ginza Mitsukoshi department store. Since opening, queues of women have been wrapping around the staircase.
But forget the over-rated macaroons and get in line for the praline mille-feuille -- a caramelized puff pastry with textured layers of crunchy praline and smooth praline cream. Each bite brings you closer and closer to sugar rush heaven. The confection is best eaten fresh, so feel free to make a snack of it in Ladurée's tearoom overlooking the streets of Ginza.
