Kitty-corner from The American Pharmacy, in the basement of the Maru Biru near Tokyo station, Juchheim Die Meister churns out some of the city's most reliable bread products.
The bakery's croissants are a wonder in a city filled with too many chewy hunks of bread. They're baked to a chestnut-brown crisp, yet are buttery in taste.
For more great bread, consider the dense, flat rectangles of German bread, which offer a nice alternative to baguettes and batards.
Also try the rosemary focaccia. A near meal in itself, the fluffly bread is stuffed with potato, bacon and cheese.
The sprigs of rosemary on top don't actually stand in for a trip to Tuscany, but they'll definitely remind you why you've always wanted to go there.
