Flickr's Dr.Colossus explores the visual beauty of handmade udon noodles.The Japanese blogosphere is often maligned for the lack of faces and identities, but when it comes to culinary reportage, Japan may be leading the rest of the world.
Global Voices Online has recently written about five of the best food bloggers, including the noodle-obsessed Takezou Miyamoto Niten and fish expert wnk_sho. And where would Japanese food blogging be without an entire site dedicated to the beauty of bento boxes?
If anything, these sites show that online content strongly follows the lead of old media. Japanese TV specializes in footage of people eating in front of cameras, so there should be no surprise Japanese blogs do a similar thing. Unfortunately due to the almost complete anonymity of bloggers, however, we can't see that amazing face they make on TV when the food first hits their tongues and their brains register "delicious."
