A cozy, comfortable hangout high on Shibuya's Dogenzaka -- it's actually closer to Shinsen station on the Inokashira Line than Shibuya -- German Farm Grill is a one-stop shop for authentic German beers, sausages and provincial fare.
Helmed by a chef who cut his teeth at a three-star restaurant in Paris, the cuisine is first rate, and the beer list just as good. Hard-to-find (in Tokyo) classics like Franziscaner (for which the restaurant's name is often mistaken, as it graces the awning out front), Flensburger and a variety of schnapps grace the menu. And this is one of the few places in town you'll find Spaten Lager and Optimator on tap.
It's easy to while away an evening here, but don't expect to get off cheaply. Like the quality of the food and drink, prices are high. The tab at German Farm Grill will be significantly higher than at your local izakaya.
