Beard Papa
The good news is that waiting in line at Beard Papa will probably kill a few calories -- the bad news is, you'll need to after visiting. (Photo by the author)

The eastern face of Shibuya station is home to the small cream puff stand Beard Papa. On approach, first will come the fragrant vanilla smell, followed by the sight of a long line shuffling forward in the direction of pretty girls wearing puckered hats.

Grab a pair of the luscious cream-filled balls (or a six-pack, our little secret) and sugar crash on the nearby benches. And if you are strong-willed enough not to gorge, Beard Papa cream puffs also make a great gift when visiting a friend's home or office.
