Just like a real design studio, Office has back issues of Japanese mags like Relax and Transit on hand.
Office in Gaienmae has been able to keep its trendy status for a good while now. Maybe the banal-to-the-point-of-being-crazy concept helps.
Office comes from cafe/restaurant producer Transit -- the company behind some of the coolest Tokyo interiors, including all of the Sign cafes. Transit’s team found inspiration for the interior from trendy design bureaus, decking out the space with desks and rows of magazines and art books.
The atmosphere thankfully is the very opposite of Japan’s famously rigid corporate world. Office is host to many funky and laid-back evenings, with a live DJ on hand to spin a suite of über-cool tunes.
