Luida's Bar from 'Dragon Quest' opens for all

With slime nikuman, strangely colored beverages and "goddess fruit," the world of gaming comes to life in Roppongi
Luida's Bar

Luida's Bar (ルイーダの酒場) -- the fictional watering hole of ultra-popular video game "Dragon Quest" -- opened in real life on January 28 in the nightlife district of Roppongi. After a week of special pre-opening events for special pass-holders and the press, the bar is now open to the public.

Pay this theme bar a visit and expect to see girls dressed up like video game characters, nikuman shaped like the game's iconic slime and some weird dessert called 'Goddess fruit' from "Dragon Quest IX."

Last year a short-lived version of Luida's Bar opened in Yodobashi Camera Akihabara as promotion for "Dragon Quest IX." But this Roppongi version looks to be permanent.

The only strange thing is the location: Do otaku and hardcore gamers dare venture to the dark, foreigner-infested neighborhood of Roppongi? Could they not have found a permament location in the safer territorities of Akihabara? Or is going to Roppongi itself a "dragon quest"?
