Avonmore is a secret little slice of Sydney history. Randwick was one of the original ritzy neighborhoods of the early colonial settlement, and this majestic terrace a monument to the wealth accrued by an Irishman who built railways.
Lots of original features remain in this elegant terrace manse: stained glass, wrought iron, carved wood, the grand staircase, marble fireplaces and pressed tin ceilings.
Accommodation is period furnished, chintzy and homely. Rooms are huge in the front original building, with others out the back making 23 in total.
There are family suites, a great budget accommodation option for tribes on the move.
The pretty front garden and entrance overlook Alison Park, where there is plenty of space for kids to play, including a play park with swings and climbing equipment.
There are loads of great restaurants within a couple of minutes’ walk, and buses to the city every few minutes from nearby Belmore Road.
