Win free tickets to Guinness Live Thursdays Final
Art Grunwald performs during the Guinness Live Thursdays launch -- he will perform again this Thursday at the Gaelic Club Sydney.CNNGo is offering the chance to win 10 double-passes for the final of Guinness Live Thursdays on September 15 at the Gaelic Club, Surry Hills.
For the last two months, renowned blues performer, Ash Grunwald, has helped Guinness in their quest to find the nation’s best up-and-coming live music act.
From 100 entries, the competition has been whittled down to four bands: Modern Error from Bankstown, New South Wales; Iron Bar Hotel from Sydney; Buddha in a Chocolate Box from Hamilton, Victoria; and Palatial Digs from Perth, Western Australia.
They will perform this Thursday and the winner will fly to Dublin and perform on Arthur’s Day Eve, September 22, along with 60 other international acts.
Arthur’s Day commemorates the day in 1759 when Arthur Guinness took out a 9,000-year lease on the Guinness Brewery at St. James’ Gate.
The judges have to choose just one band for that chance.
“Each group has brought a different quality to this contest, I wish all four the best of luck,” ambassador and judge Ash Grunwald said.
Grunwald, originally from Melbourne but now living near Byron Bay, knows what it’s like when trying to get discovered.
"It can be hard to get a leg-up,” said Grunwald. “You can knock doors constantly. Doors keep closing, but then you get to the ninth door and it opens, you’ve just to keep knocking. You've got to push really hard, it's such a process.”
The powerful musician is now top-billing at festivals around the country and was Jack Johnson’s support act last year.
On Thursday night, he and other judges have to choose the up-and-coming live music act who will get that "leg-up".
To stand a chance to win exclusive tickets to this event, send an email to marketing@cnngo.com with the name of the ambassador and judge for Guinness Live Thursdays. The first 10 people to respond correctly will win a double pass each.
