A bright art deco interior greets visitors at the Scarlet Hotel.
If you're like us and you'd rather camp on the beach with the oysters than shack up in another painfully character-free business hotel, then we've got good news -- Singapore's Scarlet Hotel is like a Hollywood set from Moulin Rouge, only you get to sleep in this Chinatown fave. (Sorry, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor not included).
Every inch of the Scarlet -- from the floors to the walls to the rooms and the corridors -- is clad in flamboyant décor like glittery chandeliers, plump satin cushions, and chairs, while the chic attendants wear scarlet and black horseman coats. "Oops, can you get my bag for me, sir?"
The rooms verge on theatrical with S$30,000 beds, enough mirrors to give Paris Hilton a conscience, and gold-plated taps you can see your reflection in. Needing some romance, Casanova? Check your sappy selves into the Passion suite ($950), complete with, you guessed it, a four-poster bed for, um, sleeping. Before you get your nightgown on, however, grab a drink at the rooftop bar at Breeze.
