It's all about location. Here are four hotels that will let you explore different parts of the Lion City.

1. Best city explorer: Hotel Rendevous Singapore
Right smack in the middle of Bugis and Raffles City is Hotel Rendevous Singapore, a four-star joint which is walking distance from pubs, eateries and shopping centers. There's the local Bugis Village, located just opposite Bugis Junction, where you'll find plenty cheap garments and local food. And, if you're feeling up for a couple of beers in the evening, then head down to CHIJMES, a whole compound full of bars, pubs and restaurants. For something a little less rowdy, the hotel is also very near Fort Canning Park, a lovely expanse of green, where you can take a cooling evening stroll.

2. Best bayside location: Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore

The five-star Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore offers views of Singapore's Marina Promenade. It's also a skip away from Millenia Walk, where you'll find a multitude of other hotels, bars and a giant shopping centre, which will cater to most of your material needs. Take a stroll down to the Marina Barrage and and take in the stunning nighttime view of the river. Or, you can literally skip the very short distance to the Singapore Flyer, currently the largest observation wheel in the world and undisputed king of the Singapore skyline.

3. Best cultural locale: The Scarlet Hotel

Just off the heart of Chinatown is the Scarlet Hotel, a hip boutique hotel surrounded by the best the Chinese community has to offer. The hotel is literally steps away from the Buddhist Tooth Relic Temple and the Sri Mariamman Temple.

You might also want to cab a short 10-minute ride to Little India, Singapore's stretch of everything Indian. The Scarlet Hotel is also relatively close to Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, two of the most popular watering holes that are littered with all kinds of seafood restaurants.

Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa is on Sentosa island, a half hour drive from the Singapore Changi Airport. It's a perfect spot if you're looking to get away from bustling city life. Apart from the sand and sun, Sentosa is also home to many top notch restaurants.
