Ticket to ride: Universal Studios Singapore to open March 18

Time to start queuing (virtually) for tickets as USS will finally open at 8.28pm on March 18

Official opening of Universal Studios Singapore No more cranes and construction machinery -- the speed monsters will be set loose come March 18.

Finally! After months of testing, safety checks and numerous teaser sneak peeks, Universal Studios Singapore (USS) has settled the exact date and time it'll open to the public -- 8.28 am on March 18, 2010.

Ticket sales for Universal Studios Singapore’s soft opening phase will begin at 9am on March 10. It's not really a full opening from what we understand, as USS management is still calling this a preview and soft opening. It's anticipated that certain attractions may become temporarily unavailable during this period, but ticket prices will be partially rebated by shopping and dining vouchers.

Preceding the public opening the theme park will have a soft opening for its staff and families of Resorts World Sentosa from March 13 onwards.

Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, executive chairman of Resorts World Sentosa, said in a statement, "Universal Studios Singapore wrapped up a week of Chinese New Year sneak peeks to great reviews, and we are excited to be gearing up to take our first guests on the rides, which are naturally the highlight of the park. This is the region’s only Universal Studios theme park, and it will be a tourism crown jewel for not just Singapore, but Asia as a whole."

Editor's Note: Tickets for the preview phase can be bought online at www.rwsentosa.com, or via phone at tel +65 6577 8899. Tickets can also be purchased for future dates only at the ticket booths from 9am to 6pm daily at Universal Studios Singapore.
