It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman taking a plane!

The Man of Steel takes to the skies -- but it's not what you think

How did the Man of Steel get through the airport metal detectors? YouTube video from hellojed79.

Superman looks to have lost a lot of weight and is now slumming it with the mere mortals, and in Singapore, of all places. An online video is doing the rounds, showing the costumed hero making his way through customs at the Changi Budget Terminal and boarding a plane to Kuala Lumpur.

It's a publicity stunt obviously, but despite that we do love the deadpan expression throughout and the occasional "up-up-and-away" hand postures. No prizes for guessing which airline's behind it as well -- Tiger Airlines -- which has stuck to its usual low production budget for advertisements, getting a videographer to follow and film the Singaporean Superman.

Naturally the Man of Steel has attracted plenty of online discussion. Wugi25 commented on the YouTube video, saying that "I guess he found flying to be a lonely event plus the air up there these days ain't what it used to be. Real freezing cold too, remember he is even wearing his underwear outside." yellowparkinglot agreed as well, saying that "even heroes need a break. Hilarious! I salute his guts!"

On community website STOMP, Xstream93 laughs off the stunt, saying "even Superman feeling the effects of recession? Looks like the recession has even hit superheroes, won't be surprised if Batman and Spiderman follows in his footsteps."

Part two of the video follows below. What we're wondering is, will there be a Part Three? Let's hope they don't serve kryptonite on board.
