St Patrick's Day Parade 2010 in Singapore: When Star Wars meets the Irish
It sounds like the beginning of a bad bar joke when a priest, a Stormtrooper and a Sith Lord meet.
Jointly organized by the Irish Chamber of Commerce and St Patrick's Society, the Parade commemorates St Patrick, Ireland's patron saint and also the Irish National Day. Last year's parade drew over 3,500 participants, and this year's event should see an even bigger, more riotous turnout. Costumes were in full display, with Stormtroopers and the Dark Lord of the Sith making appearances.
This year's parade will make its way from the Asian Civilizations Museum, across the Singapore River, before ending at the UOB Plaza.
The Parade March starts at 3.30 pm from the Asian Civilizations Museum, while the Street Party kicks off at 5.00 pm at Circular Road in Boat Quay. For more details, click on to www.stpatsparadesingapore.blogspot.com. Just remember to turn up in green.
