Singapore approves Malaysian group's casino plan: regulator

The Genting group's Resorts World Sentosa project received the official go-ahead from Singapore authorities over the weekend to launch its casino, although the company has declined to name an opening date.

Resorts World Sentosa, built by Genting at a cost of 4.4 billion US dollars, had already opened four premium hotels last month in expectation of receiving the casino license.

In addition to the casino, hotels and convention facilities, Genting will open a Universal Studios theme park by March, with a marine life park, maritime museum, spa and two more hotels scheduled to launch after 2010.
