Could the next Justin Bieber be Singaporean?
To become a star, it's not enough to be a good singer/songwriter, you've also got to be able to perform.Want to be the next Justin Biber, or Ling Kai?
Noise Singapore -- an initiative of the National Arts Council -- and music academy/live music venue Timbre are leveraging off YouTube to help find Singapore's next big thing with the Noise-Timbre Singer-Songwriter Programme.
If you think you've got the singing/musical chops to become a global music sensation, fame awaits in five easy steps:
1. Sign up at www.noisesingapore.com
2. Record a video performing one original song and one song of choice, as an individual or duo between the ages of 18 and 35.
3. Upload the video on YouTube and submit the links at www.noisesingapore.com between December 14 2010 and 16 January 2011.
4. Practice your signature hair flip/hand move -- this is optional -- till February 2011 rolls round and a winner and 10 other finalists are unveiled for public voting on www.noisesingapore.com and the Timbre Music Academy Facebook page.
5. Rally your friends, family and fans to "like" your video, and hopefully so will the judges from Noise and Timbre. One winner will be chosen each month from March to July 2011 and will go on to receive training for four weeks from Mang Irama Dusique from local group Goodfellas/Zero Sequence and music veteran Kevin Mathews before taking the stage at Timbre @ The Substation for a full 20-minute set.
The Noise-Timbre Singer-Songwriter Programme is open for submissions from December 14 2010 and January 16 2011.
