Midnight Shift, Singapore's society of secret after parties

When the night is winding down and the weak-willed are calling it a night, the invite-only parties of Midnight Shift are only just starting. Here's how to be a part of it

Midnight Shift is an invite-only after-hours party, where “What goes on is undictated, unplanned and left unsaid. A belonging, a code of conduct, a way of living that defines the rule of the opposite day.”

It sounds like what Tyler Durden at Fight Club would say. This 'secret' society’s meetings happen only when the sun goes down and normally continue until early the next morning. The good news is you can be a part of it. Register with the group here (click the elevator button to go inside) and you'll hopefully be sent details of upcoming events and receive special privileges, like free cocktails. We say hopefully... we're yet to receive any confirmation we've been accepted into the guild.

Once inside though, it's all about the music. International and local artists play tunes from the 1970s to the contemporary bands of today. And sometimes you won't know who'll be playing until you turn up. Instead of annoucing the artists, sometimes they will playfully post a riddle on their website as a clue.

No secret about the next event however, which will feature Green Velvet, the creator of club singles such as “Brighter Days” and “La La Land”, techno slightly tainted with pop and punk. It will take place on July 24 at Stereolab. Midnight Shift members get free cocktails from 10:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.

July 24, Stereolab, Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel, 7 Raffles Boulevard, Singapore
