Marina Barrage
Marina Barrage will be the perfect spot for viewing fireworks while dancing to the slick DJ beats.

It’s December 31 and many of us are still stuck on what to do when the clock strikes 12. Here are some things you could do to see out the old year and bring in the new.

1. Let your hair down at the Barrage

The Marina Barrage, besides being a dam, has been a popular spot for picnics, dates and just plain walkabouts with its picturesque Green Roof overlooking the Central Business District. Tonight, it will be turned into an open air party, with international DJs like Scott Bond and Ronald Van Gelderen headlining the event. Don't be tempted to jump into the reservoir though. That water goes into our taps.

2. House parties

It may not be too late to call your friends for a good ol’ shindig at your place. Bring over some chips, dips and booze and play some poker, rent a movie or two or duke it out over some games on the Xbox 360. It could also be time to liberate those dusty board games from your attic. We've heard a game of Taboo or Cranium is a whole lot more fun when fueled with beer.

3. Civilized fun

The Asian Civilization Museum will be open until 1am allowing visitors to count the clock down with radio DJs from 91.3FM. They will also be treated to fun and games with the DJs, entertained by fire-eating magicians and salsa percussion groups. Free premium ice-cream and Bacardi cocktails for gallery visitors.

4. Manic Street Partiers

There’s no shame in wanting a cheap thrill. Head down to Orchard Road to countdown with everyone else who was too lazy to plan a night out. Sing, cry, do the moonwalk. No one would really care as all eyes will be on their watches and huge plasma screens. Just be prepared to be covered in ribbons of cheap party streamers and sweat -- none of it yours.
