The American Idols invade Singapore

Underwood's gone, Allen's performed, but now Lambert's due and Clarkson's coming -- it's Idol mania as the American stars come to Singapore
Kelly Clarkson in concertThe first and still the best, with over 23 million albums sold worldwide, and now Clarkson's coming to Singapore.

Seems these days, anywhere you turn, the country's tightly in the grip of Idol fever. Carrie "I love chocolate" Underwood was in town last year, opening the ION Orchard mega-mall with the debut of her new-ish single "Mama's Song," while Kris "Keep that snake away" Allen put on a one-night mini-concert at Zirca in Clarke Quay just last month. Now, the Singapore chapter of the Glamberts -- which are what the fans of season 8 runner-up Adam "I live for hairspray" Lambert call themselves -- is flustered with excitement that the flamboyant pop star's putting on a by-invite-only performance at Resorts World Sentosa.

It's an exclusive fan event that will see Lambert performing at the newly opened Pantages Hollywood Theater in Universal Studios Singapore. He'll sing three songs, and tickets are only available via a lucky draw from purchases of the deluxe edition CD of his new album, "For Your Entertainment."

From postings on the Singapore Glamberts site, the CDs with lucky draw tickets are already sold out in many places, but there are still stocks left for those who want to try their luck. The event's on March 12 at 8.30pm, and results of the draw will be released March 10 on Lambert's official site.

For Idol fans, the real coup has to be news that Kelly Clarkson, the first and best American Idol if album sales are anything to go by, is coming to Singapore for a one-night concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium (from Today Online's Christopher Toh). Clarkson is the highest-selling Idol alumnus, with over 23 million records sold.

The first Idol will bring her 'All I Ever Wanted World Tour' to Singapore on April 27 and tickets are on sale now. There are also some rumors of a fans' meet-and-greet session with Clarkson, but nothing's been confirmed yet.
