Greg Browning cycles around the world
Man on a mission -- Greg Browning's cycled through 30,000 kilometers of various terrains around the world.

He's cycled from London to Sydney, pedaling his trust Condor bicycle nearly 30,000 kilometers through some of the toughest terrain on the planet. The blazing deserts in Uzbekistan and steep mountains of Sichuan, China posed no problem. But when English traveller Greg Browning hit urban Singapore -- his bicycle was stolen. In broad daylight. On Orchard Road.

Browning's first reaction was of disbelief. "I've been in so many countries where people said I would get robbed, and then this happened in Singapore, which I was told was one of the safest places in the world," he said to The Straits Times. "I couldn't believe it. My bicycle looks quite weathered, not like a shiny racing bike at all. It happened in a busy place as well."

And busy it was, just along Orchard Link outside Ngee Ann City, one of the busiest shopping areas in town. The cables had been cut and tossed into the bushes.

But just as all hope seems lost for the English cyclist, good news came. A bicycle fitting the description of Browning's was handed to the police by someone who had found it abandoned at East Coast Park, while a man in his forties was charged with the attempted theft of a bicycle. The man is believed to be responsible for several bicycle thefts, including Mr Browning's Condor. Local bike shop Treknology Bikes 3 was also very supportive, looking to get in touch with Browning about a donation if he couldn't continue on.

Greg's back on his journey now, continuing on to Darwin in Australia, ecstatic that his bicycle was recovered.
