Valentine's dinner at Tippling Club: Not your usual chintzy cliche
It's a nice lush setting in the greenery of Dempsey Hill and easy chill-out music. While there's no limit to the number of totally cheesy options for Valentine's Day, it's hard to find one without the chintz factor. So when we came across this particular offering from the Tippling Club, it caught our attention for the apparent lack of it. There's no cheesy, nausea-inducing decor or over-the-top dinner items that some marketing genius named by throwing darts at a Mills & Boons novel -- in fact, there's no 'corniness' at all with Tippling Club's six-course Valentine's Day menu.
Tippling Club’s head chef Ryan Clift and master mixologist Matthew Bax designed the menu and experience just to avoid that gushy-mushy Valentine's feel. "Avoiding the cliché or conventional when it comes to Valentine’s can be quite a challenge. Our aim at Tippling Club was to come up with a dining experience that will send couples into a sensory high and we hope won’t fail to impress," said Clift to CNNGo.
It's just a chill-out evening for two. The 'cheese-free' menu features dishes such as Champagne Mud Crab and White Gazpacho accompanied with a selection of Henriot Champagnes, as well as 40-hour Wagyu cheek, lobster and radish paired with a Domain Antonin Guyon Pernard Vergelesse wine. The dinner is priced at S$210 per person and llaces are strictly limited -- book in advance to reserve your seat.
The clincher for us though is still the Tippling Club's location on the fringe of Dempsey Hill, especially the cosy setting on the Tippling Terrace. If you're sitting at the bar with an after-dinner cocktail, remember to chat up Chef Ryan Clift or ask Matthew Bax to whip up a batch of Velvet Fog.
