Toyota has already had to recall more than 400,000 2010 hybrid models, including the popular petrol-electric hybrid Prius, for problems in their anti-lock braking systems (ABS), and now owners in Singapore are affected as well.
About 120 Toyota Prius car owners in Singapore being informed to send their cars in for a software upgrade, which will take about an hour to fix. The upgrade will improve 'brake feel' when the ABS is activated.
Parallel importer Hybrid Motor was first to confirm the recall, followed soon by authorized agent Borneo Motors. Borneo Motors managing director Koh Ching Hong said to the Straits Times that 71 affected cars belonged to its customers, whom "we are in the process of contacting." Two other cars are showroom display units with another 27 others at the port.
