Video: John & Leng's big fat fake wedding
Investment banker meets foodie baker, falls in love and learns to speak properly. YouTube video from sixlivessingapore.
So the Speak Good English campaign's been running around since 2000, and it's seen some weird iterations in the past -- remember the "Walk and Talk" stick figure videos of 2007? Now the good English folks have engaged mrbrown and his crew to whip up a new campaign called "Six Lives," an online drama series played out entirely online through blogs, Twitter and Facebook.
Never mind the obvious contradiction -- that mrbrown is best known for his podcasts and blog posts which are often punctuated with Singlish. Speaking with Channel NewsAsia, mrbrown, whose real name is Lee Kin Mun, recognized the hypocrisy but said he wouldn't be able to do his work without a strong foundation in English.
The mrbrown show gang came up with this great ditty and storyline -- "expect the unexpected as six friends plan an event that will change their lives forever. What secrets will they uncover as they learn that communication is more than just being understood?" explains the Six Lives website. This wedding song sequence of John and Hui Leng, two of the fictional characters is especially charming.
Enjoy. And remember to enunciate.
