Expats! Singapore's the next best place to raise your kids
Yes it's safe to leave your kids in Singapore.Second-best place for expats to raise kids
Foreign workers and overseas talent may not have the easiest of times here, but their children are finding it surprisingly easy to adapt to get into the groove of things in Singapore, according to a new survey by HSBC, which ranked the country as the second best place for expats to raise their children.
Channel NewsAsia reported that some 56 percent of expat parents said their children are more socially integrated here than they were in their home countries, according to Expat Explorer, the world's largest survey of expats commissioned by HSBC International. Not only did 71 percent say their kids adapted "really well" to the education system here (expat parents globally said the same 49 percent of the time), 65 percent said their children found it easy to make new friends (global average 50 percent).
The top spot goes to Australia, and on the flip side, expat kids in the United Kingdom and United States struggle the hardest to make friends and integrate.
Nine in 10 expat parents living in Singapore felt they had moved to a safer, more childcare-friendly place for their youngsters. Three in four said education standards were better than in their home country (global average 56 percent), while 70 percent felt childcare had improved since moving here (global average 50 percent).
Who knows, your expat kid might even end up picking up a little Winglish (or White Boy Singlish).
