Singapore couple sue celebrity party planner David Tutera
Famed party planner David Tutera, who has planned parties for the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Elton John and Al Gore, failed to deliver for one very irate local couple.
Left-at-the-altar suit rips TV host
It's not often that Hollywood scandals reach into this neck of the woods, so it's hard not to sit up when the New York Post breaks news that celebrity party planner David Tutera is being sued for damages by a Singapore couple. Tutera, who hosts WEtv's "My Fair Wedding" and the Discovery Channel's "Party Planner," allegedly left IT consultant Steve Choi and Boston University student Melissa Chin stranded at the altar.
The lawsuit filed claims that just before the US$267,000 Singapore ceremony last August, Tutera had "canceled or failed to provide" the bridal bouquet, the floral décor, a VIP round table, linens, a white carpet for the reception -- and even a dance floor.
Their suit seeks more than a quarter of a million dollars for fraud and "emotional distress." There's a lot of disputing and finger-wagging going on of course, but with all the media attention, any publicity may turn up to be good publicity for the local couple, who did manage to walk down the aisle before more than 100 friends and relatives in the end.
