Singapore radio DJ terrorizes unlucky boy
Andre Hoeden does a mean impression of an army drill sergeant, complete with National Service lingo and barking. YouTube video from Hornz75.
There comes a time during a boy’s life in Singapore when he becomes a man. That time is during National Service, two years of his post-tertiary education life devoted to the army, police force or the civil defence. Every soon-to-be enlistee and parent of said enlistee are understandably worried about starting a new phase of life but how would you react if you got threatened with military jail for forsaking your responsibilities even before entering the army?
Then 91.3FM radio DJ Andre Hoeden, as part of the Married Men team, decided to find an answer to that question by pulling a prank on an unsuspecting Wong Chee Loon, a month before embarking on his National Service adventure. Disguised as Sergeant Rajah, Andre Hoeden grilled the poor boy on his absence from an appointment with the army, slammed him for his lack of fitness and even made him do push-ups at the office.
As guilty as we are for laughing at Wong who was close to tears, we have to give it to Hoeden for staying in character as the fearsome Sergeant Rajah. Anyone would have "knocked it down" for him over the phone.
