Singapore kids say the darndest things

No more insects, exams, homework and financial crisis when our kids become the leaders of tomorrow
Kids will say almost anything, but do they understand the concept of a survey? One child surveyed is hoping to earn S$24,000,000 per annum as a rugby player.

It's almost like a scene right out of Bill Cosby's famous TV show from the late ninties, Kids Say the Darndest Things. HR and staffing services firm Adecco Singapore posted their findings from their annual survey of children living in Singapore and the results were interesting, to say the least.

Among the questions posed to the children, aged between 7-14 years, the one that caught our attention was "If you became Prime Minister of Singapore, what are the first three things you would do?" Here's a sampling of the answers.

  • Kill all insects
  • Find more ways to reduce global warming
  • Ban exams
  • Put an end to the financial crisis
  • Upgrade computers in schools
  • Build more theme parks
  • Ensure that everyone has a job
  • Make more peanut butter factories
  • Cut everyone’s salary and give it to me
  • Ensure that each child is given a game console

Funny stuff, but not all the answers were frivolous. Many children wanted to help others and to maintain a safe Singapore for all to enjoy. Ensuring that all Singaporeans could enjoy a solid education was also a popular choice. Many children were knowledgeable beyond their years about how as Singapore’s Prime Minister they would influence taxes, education, government and society in general.
