'A bit more of this material and Hilary and I could whip up some mighty fine curtains.' APEC 1994 -- Bogar, Indonesia

Forget whatever diplomatic dialogue, multilateral trade deals or climate change initiatives come out of an APEC summit. The real talking point is always what crazy get-up our world leaders end up posing in.

Just as your dad never looks cool, APEC ensures presidents, premiers and prime ministers rarely look sharp.

We've dug up these monumental historical fashion moments -- the national dress couture hits of APEC from the last twenty years. Click the gallery link above then sit back in awe.

Clothes are just on behalf of the culture, so like cultures can be exchanged softly, Political issues also can be exchanged. but politicmen are the gameplayers instead of gamekeepers. This is a big gamble game for the world affairs.hh

I think its an interesting spin. In a day and age where leaders are often barricaded behind endless layers of security and protocol, seeing world leaders in local dresses at the cost of some fashion gaffes makes them seem more human. I think this whole "uniform dressing" at APEC Summits is a good thing and should continue. If nothing else just wondering what these guys will show up next in will keep public interest engaged in future summits.
