Love, honor and obey: Obedient Wives Club to set up in Singapore

The controversial Malaysian group that teaches wives to avoid marital problems by listening to their husbands and being as submissive as a prostitute is coming to Singapore

Members of the Obedient Wives Club are facing controversy for their unconventional suggestions for a happy marriage.
Disobedient Singaporean wives beware, the Obedient Wives Club (OWC) is setting up in the Lion City.

Rejected by nearby neighbor Johor Bahru in Malaysia, the group founded by Global Ikhwan -- which launched a Polygamy Club two years ago -- remains undeterred.

It seems Singapore has supporters who agree with the club's stance of promoting harmonious marriages by advocating wives should act like a first-class prostitute in bed.

According to a report by The New Paper, a 70-year-old literature professor in Singapore, Dalam Zaini ,has plans to set up a local arm of the OWC, and will work with two other men who will be the representatives of the club.

So far, 10 families have expressed interest in joining.

The new members will not be alone in their fight for obedient wives and harmonious families. The OWC's Malaysian chapter has around 800 members while its chapter in Jordan has 200. A Jakarta branch is due to launch on June 19.

Zaini has acknowledged that the club is not for everyone.

"Some people agree, while others don't -- more importantly, we believe that obedient wives can help prevent various detrimental social problems such as prostitution, divorce, gambling, domestic violence and others," he said

But for every supporter, there are the detractors.

In a report by The Straits Times, Johor Bahru's state Women, Family, Health and Community Development Committee chairman Dr. Robia Kosai has slammed the club which she feels promotes values that are an insult to the family institution.

OWC's vice president Dr. Rohaya stood by his club's stance.

"A husband who was kept happy in the bedroom would have no reason to stray or seek out prostitutes or indulge in other social vices," said Dr. Rohaya to Malaysian newspaper The Star.

The club's national director, Fauziah Ariffin, who spoke to Malaysian newspaper The Star had some advice to dispense to wives all around the world.

"The key to make a man gentle and loving is a first-class loving wife an obedient wife. When the wife is obedient, the husband will be happy and gentle. They will not look elsewhere for the loving they need."
