Don't get too sucked in by the indoor ambience -- the alfresco area is a great place to enjoy a signature cocktail.
Think "upmarket, laid-back restaurant/bar/cafe" and you'll be just about right.
Prive's secret ingredient is its location on a tiny island connected by a bridge to Singapore.
There are great views of the sea and marine yachts -ñ best seen at night from the alfresco bar while sipping on a peanut-butter chocolate martini (S$18), one of their signature cocktails.
Prive is a French-American fine-dining restaurant by name, and they try hard to serve gourmet eats at both the restaurant and at the bakery/cafe.
We like having the choice -- the cafe for casual sit-downs when the wallet's feeling light and the restaurant with its wine cellar when romance is on the menu.
