KPO
The location of KPO makes it ideal for chilling out and people watching.
gallery

KPO is almost a Cinderella story -- fuddy-duddy post office by day, hip and funky watering hole by night. People zip in and out to buy stamps and pay bills, morning and afternoon, and are drawn next door by the smell of beer and suprisingly good eats.

By evening time, the working crowds come in to loosen their ties and wet their beaks.

It's named KPO because it sits at the intersection of Killiney Road, Penang Road and Orchard Road, and it's Singapore's only cafe-bar with its own attached post office. We love it because you can enjoy a cool cocktail or a hearty meal while waiting for your number to come up on the electronic queue display. Stamps and steak, quite the killer combo.

KPO is housed in a minimalistic two-story structure, formerly the postmasterís house. We like the high ceilings, raw concrete walls and large glass windows that let in lots of natural light.

The food menu is still a work-in-progress, but one must-try is the Roti John, a traditional Malay egg omelette sandwich with chili sauce that's been given the KPO twist with a topping of chopped wagyu beef.

Breakfast is available all day for late starters.
