The Blue Cheese Burger from The Handburger
The Blue Cheese Burger is a must-try for pungent cheese lovers.

What we like most about The Handburger as compared to other burger joints everything is handmade, from the gourmet burger buns to the assorted fillings, freshly made fries and different sauces used. There's ten regular burger offerings on the menu, from the THB Original (S$13.80) -- a 180g patty of 100% New Zealand ribeye beef, sweet onion jam, cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce on coral lettuce and tomato -- and The Works Burger (which basically has everything, including bacon, egg and onion rings; S$16.80), to non-beef items like the Tandoor Chicken Burger (S$14.80) and Tea-Smoked Duck Burger (S$17.80).

Chef and Director Anna Lim believes that burgers can be wholesome in many ways. "We hope our new burger concept will raise burgers’ gourmet attributes, eliminate its junk food image and reduce the unhealthy grease." And to that point, the breads for the burgers are all freshly baked daily on the premises and there's an assortment of homemade salads, soups, side dishes, specialty drinks and desserts.

The Handburger also serves up three specialty chef's burgers that changes every month. We tried the Blue Cheese Beef Burger ($17.80), which is the THB Original but with blue cheese instead of cheddar -- for cheese lovers, it's quite the bomb, with the strong pungent taste of blue cheese in every bite. But the real clincher is the fries. The Handburger's straight cut fries are chopped up and freshly fried. Heaven.

One recent news we received is that The Handburger is opening a second branch over at 313 @Somerset on December 3, so watch out for that.
