Where's the beef? We've found the best meat restaurants in Singapore

Vegetarians, avert your eyes. The next five minutes are for fleshivores only

We painstakingly searched the city and heartlands for those restaurants in Singapore whose meat can't be beat.

1. Meat carnival at Carnivore

Carnivore is a Brazilian Churrascaria (or barbecue) where knife-wielding passadors (waiters) come to your table and slice off freshly barbecued meat from their skewers right onto your plate.

As is customary at any churrascaria, each diner is supplied a two-sided token to place by his/her plate. Red means "I am replete with meat and need no more, thank you." Green gives the passadors double thumbs up to continue carving up delicious chunks of seared flesh (and the occasional caramelized pineapple).

Strategic seating is crucial. Experienced meat lovers take pole position near the service entrance to catch crowd favorites such as the beef tenderloin wrapped in bacon and Brazilian delicacy chicken hearts before they're lost to the meat-loving masses.

On the menu -- 15 skewers of varying grilled meats, including beef ribs, lamb filet, chicken drumsticks with cheese, and pork sausages.

The included salad bar is worth mentioning for two reasons: 1. The pork trimmings with black bean gravy are outstanding, and 2. The greens do provide a palate refresher and respite before flipping the token back to green.

When you start experiencing the chest pains commonly associated with gluttony, the supplied token will be invaluable to emergency room personnel, so keep it close!

2. All-you-can-eat Wagyu Karbui at Yakiniku Daidomon

For the DIY meat lover, Yakiniku Daidomon is a barbecue-topia offering the benefit of no clean-up afterwards. The grilling plate is cleverly designed with large vacuum vents over each table to suck up fumes, so diners don’t go home smelling like a crematorium.

Mess-free benefits aside, all-you-can-eat Japanese Wagyu Karbui beef is the big draw. It's all about the marbling, heat of the fire and choice of dipping sauces. Oh, and how much you can eat. For the red-meat averse, there are other seafood and vegetable items available for grilling and even made-to-order sushi.

3. Perfection at Morton's of Chicago

If you just want a huge, perfectly cooked, great cut of meat, nothing will beat Morton's, one of the five internationally-famed steakhouse outlets from Chicago.

Big is the word du jour here and that applies to every dish that touches the table. From the complimentary onion bread loaf to popular sides -- such as the baked Idaho potato and salad with signature blue cheese dressing -- to the main course, plate space is pretty scarce.

The highlight of the dining experience, however, must be the expertise of the chef. Sadly we didn't catch his name amid the clashing of silverware and gnashing of bone. Doneness is spot-on, with every bit of flavor sealed and delivered to carnephile's perfection.

It won't be easy, but do find space for the warm chocolate cake dessert. Its oozing chocolate is a divine meat chaser. Finally, as with the servings, the bill is considerable; you pay for what you get at one of the best meat restaurants in Singapore.

Open daily, Mon-Sat 5.30-11pm, Sun 5-10pm.
