There is only 1 fine dining institution in Singapore that lays claim to such a bewitching setting in the heart of a lush and verdant garden.
That’s the 45-seater Au Jardin – by the Les Amis group – housed in a double-storey colonial bungalow at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.
With its dark wood antique furnishings, subdued mood lighting and intimate service, the 11-year-old Au Jardin continues to be a magnet for the corporate types and designer-clad bon vivants.
The best seats in the house are tables 1 and 100, tucked away in a glass-encased balcony fronting the greeneries on level 2.
But even the most gorgeous views take a back seat to Chef Galvin Lim’s modern French cuisine. His 7-course dinner menu degustation is an ensemble of recherché courses designed to excite the palate; standouts include the carpaccio of white miso-laced Alaskan king crab sashimi topped with a fresh toss of garden herbs; and fork-tender grilled Japanese wagyu served with black truffle slices.
Divine.
