The Penny Black
The world first learned about Old Speckled Hen, an English bitter, which was introduced at The Penny Black in Singapore.

The Penny Black (named after the world's first ever self-adhesive postage stamp) is a piece of quintessential Victorian England with its high tables, polished wooden floorboards and a long bar with friendly staff.

The bar was designed and built in London and shipped in its entirety for installation in its present location. The bright red post box in the middle of the bar is a great talking piece and also a good spot to congregate with your mates over some beer and conversation.

Located at the Raffles Place end of Boat Quay -- it’s the first bar there -- grab a table at the al fresco area and down a few pints.

The Penny Black's English fare served here is great for business lunches, or just catching up with someone over a meal. Traditional favorites include Dory in ale batter with crinkle-cut chips and tartar sauce, English bangers and mashed potatoes, and the all-day English breakfast grill.
