Balaclava is designed with a strong Eastern European feel, complete with plush leather sofas, very high ceilings and large flat screen televisions.
Once you've finally left the office, ditched the tie or jacket and the desire for a few single-malt scotches grabs you -- yes we know you all too well -- may we suggest Balaclava, Singapore's professional after-work hangout.
An easy walk from the City Hall MRT station, you might be surrounded by like-minded corporate execs, but the place is packed, the music is loud and the plasma TV's are ridiculously huge -- 42 inches -- if you want to catch a Premier League match, or some other sport that beams proudly into the joint.
Added bonuses: Great views of the Marina, and of course the happy hour which offer reduced priced beers, wine and house pours with mixers.
Oh and their house favorite is the Macallan 12-year-old single malt whisky, (priced at $220 a bottle). Hey, we said ditch the tie and jacket not the corporate card.
