Mercedes-Benz Arena gives an alternate view of Shanghai

Skip the touristy views of the 'Hai and get to the re-opened Mercedes-Benz Arena terrace for a distinctly different view of the city

Not only good for hosting world-class musicians (although Usher and the Eagles will be playing there in March), the new 18,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Arena has re-opened for visitors to get an alternate view of the city and the remaining Expo grounds.

Located in the Expo Park, the Mercedes-Benz Arena terrace is on the sixth floor of the arena and gives visitors a panoramic view of the city from the China Pavilion (check that out while you’re over in Pudong) to the South Bund and Lupu Bridge (which also offers great views of the city).

Other than the terrace the new stadium also has a movie theater, restaurants, a number of stores and ice-skating rink. Pretty much you can make a day out of a trip there.

Not that Shanghai needs yet another place to view the city, but as far as new ones go, we won’t complain about this addition.

To get to the arena: Take Metro Line 7 or 8 to Yaohua Lu station and go out to Exit 4. Guests will need to display their tickets at the Shangnan Lu gate for entrance. From the gate, walk down Expo Boulevard until you reach Celebration Square and then follow the signs to the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
