This year, CNY is all about the staycation

You've given up fighting the crowds this CNY. Good for you. Now enjoy the city as Park Hyatt takes "staycation" to the next level with its female bonding package
Park Hyatt BarThis staycation is all about time with your best friends and relaxing, so maximize both by heading up to the Park Hyatt's sky-high bar when in need of a few cheeky libations.

You’ve traveled and partied through December and January and right now all the word “vacation” means to you is doing absolutely nothing. Not moving, and definitely not fighting the Chinese New Year crowds. We feel you -- as does Park Hyatt Shanghai, which is why they’re offering their Culture at the Park package over Chinese New Year.

The Culture at the Park package is female bonding on overdrive and we’d expect nothing less from the Park Hyatt.

“Park Hyatt is quite a special place -- being the highest hotel everything is always enticing, but I think the most appealing feature is its intimate homey feel,” says Lillian Zhang, marketing communications manager at the Park Hyatt. “The staff goes out of their way to provide the highest personalized service, and when you're spending quality time with the girls, that’s just what you need.”

The package

Overdue girlie bonding is best remedied over afternoons (and evenings and mornings...) filled with girlie gossip. Warm up with an inclusive afternoon tea, and if the view (or vertigo) doesn’t leave you swooning, the service and servings of unbelievable cuisine will, so save some room for dinner.

With drop dead bubble bath views, satellite TV and 24-7 room service standing by, those seeking full R&R mode never need to leave their pajamas. Chick flicks and snacking aside though, leave the pampering to the experts at Water’s Edge spa. With a 20 percent discount, it might just be worth dragging yourself into the elevator for. Twice.

Before packing up the posse, you can explore the city on your own terms with a private four-hour tour. Be it full-on cultural mission or shopoholic fix, endless options are just a ride away on both sides of the Huangpu.

Should Shanghai’s nightlife call, a memorable night out on the town is just a concierge visit away. In-house gatherings are just as fun, with well-crafted cocktails and soothing jazz tunes serving up some serious ‘therapy’ for your entourage.

Come morning-time, leaving that heavenly bed might be the hardest part of your stay. But would you really want to miss that breakfast in the sky? And with a 3pm checkout, there’ll be plenty of last minute girlie time to fill, be it a guilt-remedying work out or morning tai chi. Or, perhaps one last soak before back to the grind. Decisions, decisions … If this is the hardest part of your staycation for Chinese New Year, then Park Hyatt did their job.

Room for two ladies from RMB 4,200 per night (plus tax). Larger groups have the option of connecting rooms. Best deals in February, since, as Zhang points out, prices begin to rise beginning in March, pre-Expo season.
