Being a four eyes never looked so retro cool.
What started as a passion for old things (in particular spectacles) has turned into a family business, Shanghai Code, for a young Chinese guy named Seven and his father
Over the last three years, they’ve been collecting second-hand and never-been-worn sunglasses and frames from old factories and markets in and around Shanghai. Don't believe they're original? Shanghai Code even has the original boxes from the now closed Shanghai No. 1 Glasses Factory to prove it (which, believe it or not, was the best factory in its day).
Prices for a pair from the the '60s, '70s and '80s range from RMB 150 to RMB 2,000.
Steve also collects and sells old toys, lighters, pens and original '80s "Shanghai" brand watches.
Shopping at Shanghai Code Vintage Glasses surely beats being duped at the markets with fake antiques.
