Mobile phone alphabet soup continues with the Uphone

China Unicom dives back into the mobile phone game with its newly announced Uphone
UphonePop quiz: Can you tell which is the iPhone, Ophone or Uphone?

First there was the iPhone, then the Ophone and now it’s the Uphone. Shanzai.com reports that, “[China Unicom's] Uphone plan is amazingly similar to China Mobile’s Ophone offering. Uphones will be based on a forked version of the Google Android OS called UniPlus and also include their own dedicated Uphone application store.”

Although no date has been set for the phone’s release, as intense as the competition is in China's moble phone market we’re expecting to see the Uphone released pretty soon.

With only two vowels left in the alphabet we were hoping that there’s an end in sight for the mobile phone wars, but with rumors of China Telecom’s Cphone in development and China Unicom's Uphone announcement, it doesn’t look like things will be cooling down any time soon.
