The way were were -- and the way things still are at the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre.
Behind the walls of Shanghai apartment complexes, lurk quiet lives and surprising secrets. Some of China's many secrets are hidden inside one of these complex’s basements: The Propaganda Poster Art Centre, known by locals as the Propaganda Museum.

Through the posters’ colorful iconography, China's very recent past comes to life at the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre in a way that your high school history class never could.
