Many people have a love-hate relationship with Shanghai, but according to City Weekend, the former relationship is be lauded in the upcoming film “Shanghai, I Love You” which will reportedly begin filming in October although we’ll have to wait till April for complete details on the film.

Taking after films like “Paris, je t'aime,” “New York, I Love You” and a similarly named flick “Chengdu, I Love You,” Shanghai’s romantics are sure they can compete on plotline.

Considering China’s facing a possible bride shortage leaving 24 million men in the lurch, maybe this flick will be geared more toward brotherly love?

In other Shanghai news...

KTV crackdown: Police have made over 600 arrests in a recent KTV bust involving prostitution, gambling and drug dealing. Rumor has it that all “extreme” KTV venues (nudge-nudge, wink-wink) are being pushed out past the ring road.

Sweeten the deal: On the Shanghai chocolate hunt for Valentine's Day.

Meet Mr Bridge: Meet Lin Yuanpei, the man who connected Puxi to Pudong designing all four of Shanghai’s trans-Huangpu bridges.

Dangerous waters: The Chinese government released a report saying the water is far more polluted and its industry is producing far more waste than previously realized. Local environmentalists welcome the step toward transparency.

Play nice: China promises better services for foreign experts. What that exactly means? Who knows.

Pretty pair: Husband and wife figure skating pair Shen Xue (申雪) and Zhao Hongbo (赵宏博) come out of retirement for one more shot at the gold -- watch them compete on Valentines Day.
